The Future is Ancestral
Indigenous Alliances
A socio-cultural project for the benefit of well being in villages, entrepreneurship, cultural expression of indigenous peoples, advocacy and social mobilization actions, often couting with the personal and voluntary participation of the artist Alok.
“Bringing the ancestral wisdom of the forest to the world is part not only of my artistic goals, but also of my principles as a citizen. Since I had contact with the culture of native peoples, I understood the importance of preserving and disseminating their knowledge and of deconstructing concepts, beliefs and narratives that contaminate the vision that adults and young people in my country, and around the world, have about the indigenous people. The future can be technological and sustainable, but for that we need to listen to the voice of the forest and co-create solutions together with these voices” (Alok, artist and president of Instituto Alok).
The project consists of several elements:
1. Native Sound: producing a six albums collection of songs recorded in a professional studio and distributed to the main digital platforms, containing traditional and recent songs, performed and/or composed by the artists listed below and members of their people. The action aims to amplify the knowledge of the general public (to be launched in 2023) about the musical culture of native peoples;
2. Culture, Spirituality and Food Security: development of social, environmental and cultural actions by indigenous leaders and/or their communities. (see each of the actions on this website, under Indigenous Projects)

4. Ancestors of the Future Fund: creation of a philanthropic fund in partnership with the UN Global Compact – Brazil and WeLight to support indigenous projects in (I) use of technology for good living in the villages and (II) production of cinema, music, games and web 3.0 communication.
A call to individuals and other institutions for the co-creation of this Fund was made at the UN / New York event, in the context of Climate Week (2022), which highlighted the importance of cultural expression and the entertainment industry to resignify the collective imagination about indigenous peoples.
5. Global Citizen: video production with indigenous artists and Alok for Global Citizen Live, a global event broadcasted simultaneously in 100 countries that aims to alert world leaders, society and corporations to the priority of issues related to climate change, hunger and inclusion. Global Citizen is part of the Global Poverty Project, founded by Ryan Gall and Hugh Evans.
