In February 2021 the state of Acre faced its worst flood in years. There were more than 30 thousand homeless families in the cities. Many indigenous villages have lost their entire plantation, leaving some 270 families without food and a source of income for the villages.

But a partnership between Instituto Alok, Voaa – Vaquinha do Razões and Instituto A Nossa Jornada bought more than 3 tons of seeds and bags for the agricultural replanting of these 18 most affected villages!

There were 900 kg of corn, 900 kg of manioc, 150 liters of peanuts and more than 1 ton in varied seeds only.

These foods were divided between the villages Paroá, Novo Natal, Belo Monte, São Francisco, Pupunha, Formoso, Novo Segredo, Boa Vista, Novo Paraíso, Paroá, Xina Bebe, Belo Monte and some Shanenawa villages.

Another positive point is that many of these seeds were purchased from villages that were not affected by the floods, moving the local economy and generating income for these other indigenous communities.
